Hi! I’m Ellwood-Leo Spafford.
A South London based artist and designer, born in the south of France to a part British, part Canadian mother and a fully Canadian father. My mother was a potter and my father a fotographer. From a very young age, my siblings and I were encouraged into the world of creating. After Play-Doh and crayons I got into graffiti and mural painting when I became a teenager.
I then studied fine arts in Geneva, Switzerland where I experimented with all sorts of mediums. I then veered towards graphic design and animation. I later did a short ceramic workshop and although I was very interested in the practice, I never had the opportunity to access a studio and actually become serious about it. Luckily I now live in a housing cooperative that owns a very ad-hoc communal pottery studio which has allowed me to pursure the practice further.
I am also the proud co-founder and creative director of XTATX studio, a creative company focused on visual art and digital design. My partner Martine Ingrid Stephen and I produce animations, collages, digital art, graphic design, motion graphics, photography, videos, and more such as events and workshops.
